With the holiday season soon upon us, it’s time to think about some fun crafts you can do with your children in preparation of Christmas. Most kids love doing holiday crafts. It has always been challenging to find age-appropriate crafts that all of the children will enjoy making. Here are a few suggestions you can use.

Bead garlands are one of everyone’s all-time favorite crafts. They are fun to make, extremely colorful, and great for children of all ages. You will need some string or plastic cord, a whole lot of beads, some scissors, and some glue. Cut the string or cord to the desired length, and thread it through the first bead. Tie a knot around that bead, and add some glue to keep it secure. Now add the rest of your beads. When you reach the end, tie the string off on the last bead and add some more glue.

Pine cone ornaments have also become classics in our Christmas craft repertoire. They are appropriate for children of any age, and keep very well in storage. You will need to spend some time collecting the pine cones. Simply paint them with silver or gold paint, and cover them with glitter. Let them dry somewhere safe, and tie them to your tree with a piece of ribbon.

It's time to get serious about your Christmas shopping by making your list. So now, grab your notebook and a pen. Make a list of the people you'll be buying for this year. Leave space between each person’s name. Now go back through the list and write down gift ideas and a rough dollar amount you’re willing to spend on each person.

Example:

1. Emily – Gift basket, bath and body products - $40.00

2. Aunt Annie - Something for his garden, like art craft - $30.00

3. Tom – gadget, like music and movie - $30.00

4. Uncle Sam - Something for his new truck, loves golf - $50.00

Bring your notebook shopping with you. It will help you to stay focused on who you need to shop for, a general idea of what you're looking for and your price range. It is important to stick on the budget while you decide to buy things as in your list. Making a detailed list like this will prove invaluable in keeping you organized and on budget with your Christmas shopping.

As you shop, cross off each person on your list. Be sure to keep an eye open for bargains and grab a few extra gifts - there's always that visitor that shows up that you didn't anticipate.

The least fun part of the holiday seasons is when we have to put everything into boxes and keep them in the storage for another year. Though it may be easier to just throw everything into boxes, but the proper and organized storage system will extend the life span of your Christmas decorations.

So, well organized Christmas decoration storage will help you in three ways :

  • save your time - it is quicker and easier to find those decorations next year
  • save space - they can be easily stacked and organized by using the right boxes
  • save money - you preserves their quality and extends their life span with proper storage system

The following tips will help you to save time and money when storing decorations.

1. Wrap Christmas Ornaments Properly
christmas ornament boxesChristmas Ornaments should be individually wrapped in white tissue paper or where greater protection is needed, wrap in bubble wrap. Since most ornaments are lightweight they can be stored in large boxes. If you still have the original boxes the ornaments came in, then store them in these and then place them in the storage container.

The ideal storage for ornaments is stack-able Christmas ornament plastic storage box with dividers. You can create your own ornament storage box using shoeboxes, but you have to make your own dividers and wrap each ornaments with tissue paper.

2. Use clear plastic storage containers
